Grosse Pointe North Boys Swim Team Drops Year's Opener to South

Grosse Pointe South Boys Swimming and Diving dominates meet with Grosse Pointe North with a final tally of 126-60.

The Grosse Pointe North Boys Swimming and Diving Team started out 2013 with a 126-60 loss to crosstown rival Grosse Pointe South on Tuesday night.

North had three winners. William McNelis took the 1-meter diving, Matt Leone scored a win in the 100-yard backstroke while Matt Stander took the 100-yard breastroke.

North's season best performances were recorded in the following events: 

50-yard freestyle: Graham Eger, Michael Reith, Chris Ghanem

100-yard freestyle: Patrick Turnbull, Danny MacAskill, John Hales

200-yard freestyle: Jacob Flowers, Michael Reith

500-yard freestyle: Danny MacAskill, Jacob Flowers

100-yard backstroke: Matthew Leone

100-yard breastroke: John Hales, Michael Reith

100-yard butterfly: Anthony Cafagna

1-meter diving: Sam Shehadeh

North is now 1-2 (0-1 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.
