Grosse Pointe North Swims Past Ford

Danny MacAskill and Matt Leone each win two events for the Norsemen.

The following information was provided by Grosse Pointe North swimming coach Michael O’Connor.

The Grosse Pointe North boys swimming and diving team defeated Henry Ford II Thursday night by a 118-63 margin.

Grosse Pointe North had two double winners. Danny MacAskill took the 200- and 500-yard freestyle while Matt Leone scored wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke.

Individual winners included Patrick Turnbull in the 200-yard individual medley, William McNelis in the 1-meter diving and Matt Stander in the 100 yard breaststroke.

  • 100 yard freestyle: A.J. Owens, Graham Eger and Michael Reith
  • 200 yard freestyle: Danny MacAskill
  • 500 yard freestyle: Danny Macaskill
  • 100 yard backstroke: Matt Leone and Alex Owens
  • 100 yard breastroke: Matt Stander
  • 100 yard butterfly: Anthony Cafagna and Michael Lemanske
  • 200 yard individual medley: Patrick Turnbull, and Alex Owens
  • 1-meter diving: Duncan MacAskill and Sam Shehadeh.

Grosse Pointe North is now 2-2 (0-1 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.
