Grosse Pointe Park Woman Featured in Documentary on Big Ten Network

Emily Kreger and five other Michigan women swam the English Channel to raise money for ALS, and their journey will be televised on Thursday night.

A documentary telling the story of a Grosse Pointe Park native and five other Michigan women who swam the English Channel will air on the Big Ten Network on Thursday night.

Emily Kreger, a Wyandotte native who moved to the Pointes, and the other women made the journey to raise money and awareness for ALS—also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The women swam for their friend Bob Schoeni, a professor from the University of Michigan who is diagnosed with ALS.

They completed the swim of the English Channel from England to France and back in the summer of 2012 in 18 hours and 55 minutes—a world-record time.

The documentary, entitled “Swimming Towards a Cure,” is scheduled to air at 10 p.m. Thursday on the Big Ten Network following the Michigan State-Lansing Lugnuts exhibition baseball game.
