Grosse Pointe South varsity cheerleaders advanced from the silver to the gold division of the Macomb Area Conference this week, Assistant Varsity Coach Alex Stolarski said.
The team has been competing for three years and this is the first time they've made it to the gold division, she said.
The cheerleaders will compete in an invitational meet Saturday in Warren Woods Tower and then head to districts later this month, she said.
