Grosse Pointe South Track Wins Invitational at Sterling Heights

The Grosse Pointe South girls track and field team won the Sterling Heights Invitational and set several meet records, according to Coach Steve Zaranek.

The South girls track team dominated the 15-team Sterling Heights Invitational over the weekend. Meet records were set across the board including Hannah Meier in both the mile and half mile, the sprint relay team of Mia Perkins, Cierra Rice, Andrea DiCresce and Caitlin Moore, the 1600 relay team of Kelsie Schwartz, Ersula Farrow, Haley Meier and Hannah Meier, and a meet record for the most points ever scored by one team. 

South scored 162 points. Also in the top five were Dakota at 80, Troy at 50, Romeo at 47 and Regina at 37.

Also scoring points for South were Alexa Calas, Erin Ivers, Elise Grever, Christy Ford, Lily Pendy, Aubryn Samaroo, Emily Jackman, Alexis DeBrunner, and Madi Kaiser. Kaiser hit a career best 9’ 6” in the pole vault.

South travels to Sienna Heights College this Friday and hosts the state regional on Friday, May 18.
