Grosse Pointe Woods Shores Little League Takes the Field One More Time in World Series

The journey for the members of the Grosse Pointe Woods Shores Little League from the neighborhood ballfields of Ghesquiere Park to the national stage in Williamsport comes to an end Tuesday.

The team, which was the Great Lakes Little League champions, will play their third and final game of series at 1 p.m. Tuesday against the team from Brno, Chzech Republic.

Heading into the game Tuesday, the Michigan team is 0-2 in the tournament. In the first game, the Grosse Pointe team was no-hit in a seven inning, extra-inning thriller and lost 3-0 against Chula Vista. 

In the second game Saturday against Urbandale, Iowa, Grosse Pointe was down 6-0 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth when the offense exploded for five runs, according to a story in The Detroit News. The team was unable to get tie the game as Iowa struck out the last batter for the win, the story stated.

Grosse Pointe's final game in the Little League World Series will be broadcast on ESPN.
