Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League Returns Home From World Series Journey

The community gathered Thursday to welcome the Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League heroes home from their trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

The team, which had a dramatic run through the Great Lakes Regional tournament to qualify for World Series, finished the tournament 0-3.

While the team didn't bring home the pennant, it did bring together the community to cheer for the boys as they took on the top baseball players from around the world.

They were also one of the final 16 teams, out of nearly 7,700 which started the season, to still be playing when the Little League World Series started. The team, and individual players, were featured in national stories by ESPN and The New York Times.

The celebration Thursday could be one of many, as Grosse Pointe Woods and Shores officials hinted at upcoming events.
