The Lady Blue Devils raced, threw and fought their way to a Division 1 championship.

The squad’s 54 points was four points better than Detroit Cass Tech (50 points) and Ann Arbor Huron (50 points).

Hannah Meier’s state-title-winning 1,600-meter run performance (4:42.60) paced the squad, and set a new MHSAA All Class/Division and Lower Peninsula Division I Finals Meet Record.

Meier’s time broke the 4:45.20 mark set by Laura Matson back when big hair was cool and leg-warners were the rage -1985!

Congrats just doesn’t seem like enough for a history-making performance. So, we offer a double-congrats to Hannah and the Lady Blue Devils.

The titles don’t stop there either.

Grosse Pointe South and ’s baseball teams both captured district titles, as did the girls soccer squad from Grosse Pointe South and the softball team from .

The South boys lacrosse team also kept its state-title hopes alive - advancing to the state semifinals against East Grand Rapids June 8.

Congrats to all the teams who managed to survive in the state playoffs, and kudos, once again, to the girls track team from South.
