Norsemen Fall to Dakota in MAC Red Showdown

Grosse Pointe North girls basketball team loses 39-33 to Cougars.

A nine-point, first-quarter lead was enough of a jump-start for to knock off host Grosse Pointe North 39-33 on Tuesday and earn the team’s first Macomb Area Conference Red win of the season.

Dakota sophomore , along with senior Vera Dusaj, led the Cougars with eight points each, while Dakota coach Phil McCune managed to play all 12 girls in the victory–with each one contributing in one way or another, said McCune.

North was lead by senior guard Micaela Liddane (13 points) and sophomore Taryn Kiah (8 points).

The loss drops North to 1-1 in the MAC Red and 3-4 overall.

The Cougars are 5-2 on the season, 1-0 in the Red.
