North Boys Swim Team Defeats Catholic Central

Grosse Pointe North High School boys swim team finishes season with 5-8 record Thursday.

In their last dual meet of the season Boys Swimming and Diving Team dropped a 115 to 71 decision to ninth ranked D1 Catholic Central Thursday night.

North had three winners:

  • Christian Mellos took the 500 yard freestyle and was second in the 100 yard breastroke both in D2 state qualifying times
  • Justin Rakowicz won the 200 yard freestyle and was second in the 500 yard freestyle both in D2 state qualifying times
  • James McNelis was victorious in the 1 meter diving event

Season best performances were recorded in the following events:

  • 50 yard freestyle: Matthew Toenjes,and Nick Ribco
  • 100 yard freestyle: Patrick Turnbull, Matthew Toenjes, and Chris Ghanem
  • 200 yard freestyle: Peter Shea
  • 500 yard freestyle: Christian Mellos, and Peter Shea
  • 100 yard backstroke: Graham Eger and John Leone
  • 200 yard individual medley: John Hales, Ryhs Williams and Michael Reith
  • 1 meter dovong: Graham Eger

North fiinished the season with a 5-8 (0-4 MAC Red) dual meet record.
