Local baseball players hope to impress college and pro scouts at Grosse Pointe South.

More than 156 high school baseball players gathered Wednesday and Thursday morning at looking to make a positive impression on dozens of college and professional coaches and scouts at the 2011 Michigan High School Baseball Showcase.

The players, who came from all corners of the state, were put through a series of skills competitions during the morning, then played several games later in the day.

The event, which is in its 14th year, attracts collegiate scouts and coaches ranging from Big Ten schools such as Michigan State and University of Michigan, to community colleges and everything in between.
