The Grosse Pointe United gymnastics team used a record-setting performance to defeat Birmingham 142.85-135.05 on Tuesday.
Grosse Pointe posted a program-best score of 142.85 to break the prior school record of 141.65, which was set last season.
posted the top scores on the vault (8.9) and bars (9.0); Emma Abessino had the best score on the beam (9.5); and Aubryn Samaroo had the high score of 9.4 on the floor.
Fran Kay (8.85 beam, 9.0 floor) and Sarah Fentin (9.2 beam, 8.45 bars) also earned season high scores in several events.
Other highlights included both Madi Bush (vault, floor) and Meagan Curran (floor) qualifying to compete at the regional meet for the first time.
Grosse Pointe United, which is made up of student athletes from and , will compete in the 19-team Canton Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.
