Regional Champs: South, Liggett Prevail
The girls basketball teams from Grosse Pointe South and University Liggett won regional championships on Thursday.
and each claimed girls basketball regional championships Thursday night, according to mhsaa.com.
Grosse Pointe South defeated Chippewa Valley 69-48 to win a Class A regional championship, and University Liggett defeated Detroit Consortium to take a Class C regional title.
Both teams will compete in the state quarterfinals next week.

South (21-3 overall) will take on Waterford Kettering on March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at U of D Mercy.
Liggett (21-4 overall) will play Riverview Gabriel Richard on March 13 at 7 p.m. at Milford.
