STATE CHAMPS: University Liggett Wins Baseball Title

The University Liggett baseball team defeated Merrill 5-1 in the Division 4 state championship game.

won the Division 4 baseball state championship with a 5-1 victory over Merrill on Saturday at Battle Creek, according to mhsaa.com.

The Knights rallied to score all five of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the title.

led University Liggett with two hits and a RBI, and Nathan Gaggin and Carl Ghafari also drove in runs for the Knights.

Pitcher Nathaniel Weiss struck out six and allowed only three hits for University Liggett (30-4 overall).
