Family Center presents multi-program Ask the Experts presentations
The Family Center of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods presents a special night of Ask the Experts programs on March 20. All programs run from at 7-8:30 pm and will take place at Barnes Early Childhood Center, 20090 Morningside, Grosse Pointe Woods. Admission is free. Community members can pick one of the following in-depth presentations to attend:
Raising a Reader
A child will not enjoy reading if it is difficult and does not yield any sort of intrinsic satisfaction. It is import to start early in order to make the reading process easier and more meaningful. "Raising a Reader" will help you introduce your child to the beautiful world of reading.

Infant Massage: Learning the Language of Touch
Research shows that touch is the most powerful of all interactions. Babies can sense what their parent is feeling by the way they are touched. In this interactive one-hour course, parents are given information and support in their venture to bond and communicate with their little one(s). Please bring a blanket to sit on.
Presenter: Emily Robson, Certified Educator of Infant Massage
Self-Defense for Mothers and Teen Daughters
Self-defense instructor Ian Kinder conducts a self-defense class especially for women. All women welcome. Attendee needs: Pen for handout, proper footwear and clothes for athletic activity, adequate food and beverages to ensure concentration, safety and hydration. No jewelry on hands or wrist if possible. Presented in partnership with Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe.

These presentations have been approved by the Grosse Pointe Public School District and Harper Woods School District for staff development hours. Please remember to sign the attendance sheet at the door to receive credit.
