Michigan Thanks Family Caregivers This Month

The state Office of Services to the Aging is offering up Biggby Coffee coupons for caregivers who sign up on its website.

Family caregivers in the state of Michigan can receive a personal thank you letter and a chance to win BIGGBY COFFEE drink coupons this month, thanks to a new campaign launched today by the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA).

The campaign is aimed at thanking Michigan’s family caregivers and helping to raise awareness about their positive contributions. Caregivers can be an unpaid relative or friend of an older adult or individual with a disability who helps that individual with his or her activities of daily living. There are an estimated 1.2 million caregivers in Michigan who account for a $15.5 million annual economic contribution.

“Many are surprised to learn that caregivers – not government programs, nursing homes or social service agencies – are the biggest provider of long-term supports and services in the country,” said OSA Director Kari Sederburg. “Few understand or recognize the positive impact caregivers have on those they care for and on the state as a whole. We hope to change that with this campaign.”
