Pointers Giving Big This Holiday Season

Tis the season for charitable efforts. Kids, animals, holiday wishes and hunger are being targeted in the Pointes.

'Tis the season to be jolly — and generous. Pointers young and old, local businesses, and churches once again come together this holiday season to help those in need. 

One charity in particular, Toys for Tots, is receiving more support than ever, and Pointers can drop off gifts at various locations around town. Pop into or The to donate a gift for a child. Dentist Tymon C. Totte is also supporting Toys for Tots. His annual bowling event — which has now become a tradition — is scheduled for Dec. 17 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club at Lake Shore and Vernier.

Children truly are the reason for the season, and so Pointers are encouraged to attend the "Kris Kringle Candy Cane Cocktail Party"  hosted by Sonny Geha and David Watson. It will take place at the War Memorial on Dec. 23 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

During these cold winter months it's also important to remember our furry compadres. Even Grosse Pointe pets need love this season! Reagan Stolarski is donating all proceeds from her "Mary Kay Sales Flier" to the .

Churches across Grosse Pointe are also encouraging their members to give generously this holiday season.

On Dec.3, held its "Gifts and Greens" event.  Beneficiaries of this live and silent auction were Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners and the Simon House for Women and Children in Detroit. 

is donating its December Hunger Offering to the Salvation Army.  The congregation is urged to donate generously.

on the Lake once again has its annual "Giving Tree" up. Parishioners of St. Paul are encouraged to take a tag off the tree with a child's name. Gifts are due under the tree by Dec. 19.
