Oysterfest, Candidate Forum and Flag Retirement Ceremony Among Events Planned This Week

Meet the candidates, a tasty philanthropic event and a flag retirement ceremony are among the events coming up this week.

Here are some events to add to your calendar this week:

  • St. Ambrose will hold the annual Oysterfest taste fest and fundraiser from 5 - 9 p.m. Monday in Grosse Pointe Park. The event has moved to a new location on Lakepointe, and will include a food tent in the Beaumont clinic parking lot and beverage tent at the new Atwater beer pub building. Tickets are $30 for adults, and $15 for children 12 years old and under.
  • The Grosse Pointe League of Women Voters of Grosse Pointe will host a candidate forum in Grosse Pointe Woods at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Grosse Pointe Woods  City Council Chambers.
  • The Grosse Pointe Shores planning commission will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday to consider a special land use request for the renovation of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club harbor.
  • Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church will hold a rummage sale.
  • The Louisa St. Clair Chapter, NSDAR will host a flag retirement ceremony on 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Farms Pier Park, 350 Lakeshore Rd. in Grosse Pointe Farms.
  • Grosse Pointe Woods will host a public safety open house from noon -  4 p.m. Sunday.
