Greekfest, Little Leaguers Play in the World Series, Return of the Jedi and More This Weekend

Greek food, face painting and a classic Star Wars movie are some of the events planned for this weekend.

Here are some weekend events in and around the Grosse Pointes.

  • The four-day Assumption Greekfest opens Thursday.
  • The Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League begins play in the Little League World Series. Their first game is at 3 p.m. Friday and will be broadcast on ESPN.
  • FlashPointe hosts a day of face painting, photos, balloon twisting and more from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday.
  • Star Wars fans rejoice! Residents of the five Grosse Pointes can bring their blankets and lawn chairs for an outdoor showing of "Return of the Jedi" Saturday on the on the football field at Grosse Pointe South High School at dusk. Park passes from any of the Pointes are required for entry.
