Grosse Pointe Woods to Host Fire Prevention Open House

Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety will hold a Fire Prevention Open House Sunday at City Hall.

The Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Department will hold a Fire Prevention Week open house at City Hall from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday with fire safety information and activities for families. 

The theme of the this year's fire prevention week is "Prevent Kitchen Fires." According to a release, "more fires start in the kitchen than in any other part of the home, and it’s critical that everyone in the family knows how to keep cooking fires from starting in the first place."

Fire trucks, police cars, an ambulance, a thermal imaging camera and other equipment will be on display and demonstrated during the open house. Children will also be able operate a live fire hose and learn how to safely exit a burning building in the smoke house simulator.

Additionally, public safety officers will provide tips and information how to prevent fires and what to do to keep your family safe should a fire occur.
