Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce officials recently celebrated the grand opening of Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe's new vein clinic on the Hill.
Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe opened a new clinic on the Hill that offers non-surgical treatment for varicose veins in an outpatient setting. The vein clinic, 87 Kercheval Ave., is located next to Morning Glory Coffee and will treat adult patients. According to information from Beaumont, the clinic will specialize in three types of treatment: The first uses laser technology to cauterize the veins; the second uses micro-incisions to remove the veins; and the third uses a fine needle to inject a blocking agent to stop the growth of the varicose or spider vein. The City of Grosse Pointe council gave the final approval for the joint Neighborhood Club-Beaumont Grosse Pointe project, a new health and fitness community center, Monday during a special meeting. In two unanimous votes, the council approved both the special land use request as well as the site plans for the new center, which is slated to break ground in September on the current site of the Neighborhood Club at Waterloo and Notre Dame streets. Both requests were tabled during the council's last meeting as a few finishing details were being worked out between the city and the officials involved in the joint project.
