Scouts Collect Food for Gleaners and the Goodfellows

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from St. Clair Shores, the Grosse Pointes and other eastside communities collected non-perishable food Saturday for Gleaners and the Goodfellows.

A steady stream of vehicles filled with food collected by Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts descended Saturday on a central collection point on Nine Mile in St. Clair Shores. The donated items, collected as part of the annual Scouting For Food drive, was sorted and then loaded into a semi-truck to be shipped out to the Gleaners Food Bank. A second location for St. Clair Shores Goodfellows was also established. Scouting groups from across St. Clair Shores, the Grosse Pointes, and other eastside communities hoped to top last year donation total of 379,606 pounds. Former Grosse Pointe Farms Boys Scout Leader’s Name Surfaces in Child Sex Abuse Documents

The Boy Scouts of America created files on thousands of leaders and volunteers, including 171 cases in Michigan.

A Los Angeles Times database with information about thousands of leaders and volunteers ex­pelled or blacklisted from the Boy Scouts of Amer­ica amid sus­pi­cions of sexu­al ab­use includes a case from Grosse Pointe Farms. Last week, 14,500 pages of confidential files kept by the Boy Scouts of America on individuals suspected of child sex abuse were released by order of Oregon's highest court, according to the Associated Press. Those files included 171 cases in Michigan, including one in Grosse Pointe Farms.
