A Detroit man has been arraigned on charges related to a home invasion in the City of Grosse Pointe on Dec. 4
A Detroit man was arraigned on Dec. 13 on charges stemming from a home invasion in the City of Grosse Pointe on Dec. 4. Henry James Crook, 22, is charged with robbery without the use of a weapon and breaking and entering, according to City of Grosse Pointe municipal court staff. Crook may also be facing additional charges after his preliminary exam on Dec. 20, court staff said. Bond was set at $50,000 with a 10 percent guarantee. Crook is still currently being held in Wayne County jail. Grosse Pointe City police issued a Nixle Alert on Dec. 4 at 12:44 p.m. alerting residents that a home invasion on University had occurred and that a suspect sighting had police combing the streets in pursuit. Two brothers and a girlfriend plead guilty to stealing more than $1 million dollars of jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City home.
The three people charged with stealing more than $1 million dollars worth of jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City home in September have pleaded guilty as charged in Wayne County Third Circuit Court. Matthew Sedgeman, 19, was charged with second-degree home invasion and larceny of over $20,000. Judge Wade McCree sentenced Sedgman to 36 months to 15 years in prison and over $1 million dollars in restitution. Sedgeman's brother, Joshua Sedgeman, 20, was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000 and was sentenced to one to ten years in prison with restitution. Joshua Sedgeman's girlfriend, Alaina Robinson, who is also charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000, will be sentenced on December 13. …

Gas main leak in the 500 block of St. Clair between Maumee and St. Paul.
According to a Nixle Report released at 7:02 a.m. Saturday, there is a gas main leak in the 500 block of St. Clair between Maumee and St. Paul. SEMCO was notified and drilled holes to further vent the soil. They will be out on Monday, October 8 to repair the leak. There is no risk to residents unless gas begins to enter homes through the sewer. Although this is unlikely, if you smell gas, notify SEMCO or the Public Safety Department immediately. Three people accused of stealing and receiving more than $1 million dollars in jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City residence were arraigned in Wayne County court Thursday.
Two brothers and one of the brothers' girlfriend were arraigned in Wayne County Third Circuit Court Thursday on charges that arose from a Labor Day weekend home invasion in Grosse Pointe City that netted more than $1 million dollars in stolen jewelry. Thursday's arraignment on the information was held before Third Circuit Judge Wade McCree. Both Sedgeman brothers are currently in custody and Robinson is currently released on a $50,000 personal bond. The two brothers and a girlfriend charged in a Labor Day weekend jewelry heist were in Grosse Pointe Municipal Court today while more than $1 million dollars of stolen jewelry is still unrecovered.
Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Veneshia Cezil said there’s likely more than $1 million dollars worth of jewelry still missing from the Labor Day weekend jewelry heist in Grosse Pointe City that landed two brothers and a woman in jail. The parents of two girls robbed at gunpoint Sunday near Charlevoix and Lakeland express their concerns about neighborhood safety during Monday's Grosse Pointe City Council meeting.
"Our neighborhood is changing ... I really believe there are more things happening than we know," the mother of two girls robbed at gunpoint in the City of Grosse Pointe said Monday in an interview with Patch. The sisters, ages 14 and 11, were assaulted and robbed while walking home on Sunday morning near the intersection of Charlevoix and Lakeland. Police are searching for a man accused of armed robbery and assault of two Grosse Pointe girls Sunday.
Grosse Pointe police said a man assaulted and robbed at gunpoint two sisters, ages 14 and 11, near the intersection of Charlevoix and Lakeland on Sunday. Police are still searching for the man. At approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning near the intersection of Charlevoix and Lakeland, the girls saw a black man in his twenties approaching them and thought he was out for a walk. The man shoved one of the girls to the ground and displayed a handgun. He wrestled one of the girls’ cell phone away from her and ran north on Lakeland through residents’ yards. The Grosse Pointe Woods man arrested for breaking into Rivard Boulevard homes earlier this month waived his preliminary exam Thursday in the City of Grosse Pointe court. Zachary J. Court, 19, is charged with first-degree home invasion, possession of methamphetamine, attempting to complete a financial transaction using a device, larceny and habitual offender. Court was arrested July 11 a short time after a resident in the 800 block of Rivard Boulevard called police to report someone had taken his laptop and cell phone from his kitchen table.
