Police Blotter: Drunken Driver Hits Motorist, Smashes Business Window

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of Grosse Pointe Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 52-year-old resident Aug. 6 for drunken driving after police say she struck another motorist on Mack Avenue, struck and broke one of the front windows of Better Health, struck and knocked down a yield sign and continued back onto the other side of Mack Avenue before coming to a stop in the median. The other motorist was not injured. Police said the woman had a preliminary breath test with a 0.20 percent blood alcohol content. The woman was driving a Ford Windstar on Huntington and drove across Mack, which is when the first of the crashes happened. She continued driving each time until she came to a stop in the median of Mack Avenue. Police said the woman smelled of alcohol and had red, watery, sleepy …

It was during the day, but this is quite the norm unfortunatley for Grosse Pointe mothers, fathers, and children. I have lived here my whole life and have never seen so many Mothers and Fathers with drug and alcohol addictions. Of course, everybody wants to pretend this doesn't happen here and acts shocked to hear this story.   more ›

Police Blotter: ID Left in Stolen Car, 23 Knives, Brass Knuckles Seized

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of Grosse Pointe Farms and City of Grosse Pointe. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

An ID left behind in one of two stolen cars recovered in the 4500 block of Farmbrook in Detroit helped Grosse Pointe Farms police identify a suspect in the crimes. While investigating the theft of a 2008 Grand Prix stolen from the 400 block of McKinley a Grosse Pointe Farms officer found it, and a car stolen from the City of Grosse Pointe Aug. 2, parked behind an abandoned Detroit home. The car was still warm to touch, indicating the officer found it not long after the theif parked it there. The two cars were discovered Aug. 7--just a few hours after the Farms resident reported the Grand Prix stolen. Officers searched the house to see if anyone was inside. Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft, Harassing Phone Calls

City of Grosse Pointe police are investigating an attempted burglary in the 500 block of Lincoln Road reported Aug. 1. The resident noticed damage to a window near a side door and called police. The screen and window molding had been cut but the person did not get into the house, according to a report.  Fraudulent Debit Card Use City of Grosse Pointe police are investigating fraudulent purchases made on a resident's debit card including three activated cell phone numbers. Police Blotter: Prescription Drugs Taken in Burglary

The following information is gathered from the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the break-in of a pharmacy in which it's believed four young men forced their way into a rear door July 25. The break-in happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 15100 block of Kercheval Avenue. The men stole a variety of prescription medications, according to a report. Arrests Grosse Pointe Park police arrested two Detroit juveniles July 30 shortly after 6 p.m. near Maryland and Kercheval. The juveniles approached another juvenile, one placed him in a headlock and the other stole cash from his pant pockets. The victim was able to give police a good description, which aided in their arrest a short time later. Police Blotter: Teen Reports Identity Impersonation

An 18-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms man reported to police that he believes he is being impersonated by another person after receiving a ticket to appear in court on a citation for being in a park after hours. The man told officers he has been in and out of the hospital and appeared in court to clear up the mistake but an officer refused to provide him with a copy of the report about the original situation. However, the person he believes is impersonating him gave the wrong spelling of his name and his street and the wrong date of birth, according to a report. Police Blotter: Woman Reports Assault

The following information was gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

A 57-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms woman reported being assaulted by a man she previously had sex with after he returned to her house on another day asking to have sex again. The woman reported the assault June 21 about 11:40 p.m., about half an hour after her husband found out about the assault. Detectives took pictures of the woman's arms, chest, legs and back. The assault happened days earlier. The woman told police she had sex with the man while he was doing work at her house and he returned several days later requesting to have sex again but she declined and he assaulted her. Police Blotter: 2 Cars Stolen Within 24 Hours

The following information is gathered from the City of Grosse Pointe Public Safety department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

City of Grosse Pointe detectives are investigating the theft of two vehicles that happened within 24 hours. In the first case, a 76-year-old woman reported that her 2001 Dodge Caravan was stolen between 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 19 in the 700 block of University Place. In the second case, a 35-year-old man reported that his 2009 Jeep was stolen between 11:30 p.m. June 19 and 9:30 a.m. June 20 from his driveway in the 800 block of Lakeland. The man walked out of his house June 20 to discover his SUV missing. Inside the Jeep, the man had a portable GPS unit, an iPod, a child safety seat, a set of golf clubs and miscellaneous clothing and books, according to a report. Police Blotter: Battery, Theft Under Investigation

This information is gathered from police in the Grosse Pointes and arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating the alleged battery of a 13-year-old by his father after Parcells Middle School officials called June 2 to report a battery on school grounds. School officials told officers the man arrived at the school in a rage, threatened his son repeatedly, choked him and pulled him around by his neck in addition to pinning him against two walls. A school official who tried to intervene was shoved away by the man, according to a report.
