Bob Bashara's former attorney, David Griem, was sentenced on civil contempt charges on Monday, Nov. 26 before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The charges stemmed from accusations that Griem had shared privileged information with Bashara's family and had issued unauthorized subpoenas regarding Joe Gentz. Griem must pay the prosecution $2,000 as well as Susan Reed, the defense attorney for Joseph Gentz, $2,000 and the court $4,000 in fines by February 26, 2013, according to a release by the Wayne County Prosecutor's office. Bob Bashara's former attorney, David Griem, was in court Friday on charges of criminal contempt of court that stemmed from accusations that Griem had shared privileged information with Bashara's family and had issued unauthorized subpoenas regarding Joe Gentz. Mark Kriger will represent Bob Bashara in his trial in Wayne County Circuit Court on solicitation of murder charges.
The arraignment of Bob Bashara in Wayne County Circuit on charges that he attempted to hire a hitman was adjourned Tuesday for one week to allow his new defense attorney to be present at the proceedings. Attorney David Griem successfully petitioned Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow to have Mark Kriger represent Bashara in his trial. Griem had asked to be allowed to stop representing Bashara when the case was in 36th District Court, but he was unsuccessful. The Michigan Court of Appeals denied a motion filed by Bob Bashara's attorney David Griem. The motion for superintending control was filed by Robert Bashara's attorney David Griem on June 27, according to a release from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. The motion was placed under seal by the court and the parties are precluded from discussing the substance of the motion, according to the release from Maria Miller, spokeswoman for the office. According to the Detroit Free Press, Griem had asked the Michigan Court of Appeals to stop the prosecutors' use of investigative subpoenas.

Grosse Pointe Park investigators will be able to gather a handwriting sample from Bob Bashara without his attorney present after a ruling was issued Wednesday.
One week after attorney David Griem argued to be present for the gathering of a handwriting sample from his client Bob Bashara, a Third Circuit Court Judge denied the request. Judge Timothy Kenny denied Griem's request Wednesday during a brief hearing, during which he explained Griem is not legally entitled to be present since Bashara is not under arrest, Kenny's court clerk told Patch Wednesday.
