Mark Kriger will represent Bob Bashara in his trial in Wayne County Circuit Court on solicitation of murder charges.
The arraignment of Bob Bashara in Wayne County Circuit on charges that he attempted to hire a hitman was adjourned Tuesday for one week to allow his new defense attorney to be present at the proceedings. Attorney David Griem successfully petitioned Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow to have Mark Kriger represent Bashara in his trial. Griem had asked to be allowed to stop representing Bashara when the case was in 36th District Court, but he was unsuccessful. "Certain things happened in the relationship which just made it impossible for the two of us to go together," Griem said outside the court building in Detroit. "In regards to Mr. Bashara's defense, we were not only not on the same page, we weren't even in the same book." …

Phooey, the jury process has not even begun yet and this "so-called" lawyer is already accusing them as being poisoned. Bob and Griem are the ones constantly in the media trying to influence the public, possible jurors. Jane's family has been very quiet. Of course, Jane's family is trying to have an impact, somebody (cough, cough) has murdered the person they adored. They want justice for Jane, …   more ›

Grosse Pointe Park investigators will be able to gather a handwriting sample from Bob Bashara without his attorney present after a ruling was issued Wednesday.
One week after attorney David Griem argued to be present for the gathering of a handwriting sample from his client Bob Bashara, a Third Circuit Court Judge denied the request. Judge Timothy Kenny denied Griem's request Wednesday during a brief hearing, during which he explained Griem is not legally entitled to be present since Bashara is not under arrest, Kenny's court clerk told Patch Wednesday. Bashara has been identified as a "person of interest" in the strangulation death of his wife of 27 years, Jane E. Bashara. The couple was well known within the Grosse Pointes and her unexpected, violent death was a shock to the normally quiet and low-crime suburb of Detroit. Jane Bashara's body was found in the back of her SUV in January in …

This ridiculous. Here's a guy who's already been tried by Chief Hiller and convicted in the court of public opinion. And he can't have his lawyer present at a police evidence gathering session because he hasn't been formally charged with anything? Bashara may be guilty as hell but he still has the same rights as some dude off the streets who wastes some stranger at a traffic light. If you know …   more ›
