A woman pulled from Lake St. Clair Sunday by passersby entered the lake from the breakwall. She was not in a jet ski accident, her rescuers said.
The woman rescued Sunday by passersby Sunday ended up in Lake St. Clair from the breakwall rather than being involved in a jet ski crash as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard. Tom Cook, of Grosse Pointe Woods, was in Lake St. Clair on his jet ski when he saw two women on the breakwall waving him over, he said Tuesday. The women were standing on the breakwall holding the arms of a woman who was hanging in the water, he said. The woman was awake when he first approached but she became unconscious while they were trying to help her, Cook said. The circumstances under which she ended up in the water are not clear. Previously the U.S. Coast Guard reported to Patch the woman was involved in a jet ski accident. The Coast Guard responded to the …

Sean Gunnery is nearly finished with his field training in Grosse Pointe Shores. He started with the public safety department in April after retiring from Harper Woods in March.
The former Harper Woods Fire Chief recently joined the public safety department of Grosse Pointe Shores. Sean Gunnery, 47, of Richmond, retired from Harper Woods Fire Department in March after eight years as the chief. He worked for the department for 21 years, slowly working his way up to chief, he said. Several changes in the past few years changed Gunnery's job in Harper Woods significantly. Just about a year ago, the city laid off several firefighters in a department that was already dwindling. The city had wanted to switch to a public safety model rather than maintain separate police and fire departments. The union fought it and gained a court injunction to stop the transition. Gunnery completed the police academy in 2010 in …
