The Grosse Pointe Public School System is selling a book it created, 'A Day in the Life of Grosse Pointe Public Schools,' to capture what goes on in classrooms across the district. The limited edition book is $30.
The last project of now retired Grosse Pointe Public Schools Superintendent C. Suzanne Klein is a photo book capturing the happenings in classrooms throughout the district. The book, A Day in the Life of Grosse Pointe Public Schools: 8,500 Students, 16 Schools, 1 Day, features photographs of several professional photographers who volunteered for the project. The photographers went into a variety of classrooms at each of the district's schools last school year to capture a typical day from gym to art to social studies and science. The book is available for purchase through the district for $30. The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education gave a variety of financial gifts based on grant requests that will benefits students in the classroom and in extra curricular activities.
The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education gave more than $46,000 in grants to Grosse Pointe Pubilc School System to help with a variety of projects for the classrooms and learning. The foundation raises funds with the goal of supporting the district's strategic plan. It aims to enhance classroom programming, technology, elementary foreign language, staff and professional developement, extracurricular and more. The most recent gifts are as follows: The final gift is $30,000 that will be used district wide to purchase additional FAST reading training and materials. Grosse Pointe South alum returns home to talk about experience as cinematographer a few months after winning Best Picture at Sundance Film Festival.
John Guleserian, a Grosse Pointe South High School graduate turned award-winning cinematographer, returned to the place of his teenage years Tuesday--revisiting the school halls and the city where he shot sometimes goofy, occasionally deep documentaries, or what he thought was deep, funny or edgy all those years ago, as he and his friends spent hours with video cameras and production tools. Guleserian, a 1994 South grad who grew up in Grosse Pointe Park and went on to turn his experience with his alma mater's TV production program into an impressive resume that includes a Sundance best film prize for "Like Crazy," an independent film released in movie theaters Friday, appeared at South as part of the Grosse Pointe Public Library's speaker…
