Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Compete in MHSAA Championship

200-yard medley team finish with season best time

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Competed in the 2012 MHSAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championship held at Oakland University November 16 and 17. The Grosse Pointe North 200-yard medley relay team of Olivia Asimakis, Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis and Emma Mathews finished in 28th place with a season best time. Olivia Asimakis finished in 24th place with a season best time in the 100-yard butterfly. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Olivia Asimakis, Katelyn Kohler, Carrie Rakowicz and Emma Mathews finished in 30th place.

Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming 4th in Macomb Area Championship

Diver Emily Griffith qualifies for D2 Diving Regionals.

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team finished in fourth place in the Macomb Area Red Division Swimming and Diving Championship held at Chippewa Valley November 1-3. Diver Emily Griffith qualified for the D2 Diving Regionals to be held at Birmingham Groves on November 13. Olivia Asimakis established a qualifying time in the 100-yard butterfly as did the 200-yard medley relay team of Olivia Asimakis, Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis and Emma Mathews.  Season best times were recorded in the following events: 50-yard freestyle: Emma Mathews, Katelyn Kohler,Julia Ellis,and Jillian Fenner 100-yard freestyle:Emma Mathews,Stephanie Shea, Gabby Burchett,Brooke Ford and Caroline Schulte 200-yard freestyle Carrie Rakowicz 100-yard …

Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming Loses to Mercy High

Despite a team loss, North's 200-yard individual medley team of Asimakis, Kohler, Ellis and Mathews achieve a Division 2 state qualifying time as did Asimakis on the 100-yard butterfly.

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team dropped a 138-47 decision to 2011 D1 state champion Mercy High School Tuesday night. The North 200-yard individual medley team of Olivia Asimakis. Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis and Emma Mathews achieved a Division 2 State Qualifying time as did Olivia Asimakis on the 100-yard butterfly. North Girls Swimmers Suffer Loss to Utica Eisenhower

Grosse Pointe North girls swimming and diving win three events.

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team lost to Utica Eisenhower Tuesday night by a 112-71 margin. Despite the meet loss, North still won three events.  Emily Griffith won the 1-meter diving, Olivia Asimakis took the 100-yard butterfly and Carrie Rakowicz scored a win in the 500-yard freestyle.   Season best performances were achieved in the following events: 50-yard freestyle: Emma Mathews, Grace Addy, and Amber Giesking, 100-yard freestyle: Kayleigh Gehlert and Gabby Burchett 100-yard breastroke: Jennifer Hawring and Laura Dobbs 100-yard butterfly: Brooke Ford North is now 5-5 (0-4 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.

North Girls Swim Team Competes in Interscholastic Swim Coaches Meet

Freestyle relay team of Asimakis, Kohler, Rokowicz and Mathews qualify for Division 2 state competition.

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming Team competed in the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Swim Meet on Saturday 10.13.12 at Eastern Michigan University. Olivia Asimakis finished in 46th place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.83. The 200-yard medley relay team of Olivia Asimakis, Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis and Emma Mathews finished in 42nd place with a time of 2:01.65. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Olivia Asimakis, Stephanie Shea, Carrie Rakowicz and Emma Mathews finished in 40th place with a time of 3:57.46. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Olivia Asimakis, Katelyn Kohler, Carrie Rakowicz and Emma Mathews finished in 29th place with a Division 2 State Qualifying Time of 1:46.58.

North Girls Swim Team Comes Up Short Against Chippewa Valley

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team dropped a 116- 67 decision to Chippewa Valley Tuesday night. Olivia Asimakis scored North's only win, taking the 100 yard butterfly. Season best performances were recorded in the following events: 50-yard freestyle:  Julia Ellis, Sydney Eger, Grace Addy, Blake Moncur, Lisa Zmyslowski, and Emily Hoshaw. 100-yard freestyle: Gabby Burchett, Blake Moncur,, Jillian Fenner, Karyn Schwartz, and Maria Mermiges. 500-yard freestyle: Ann Marie Nicholson 100-yard backstroke: Laura Dobbs 100-yard breastroke: Katelyn Kohler, Jennifer Hawring, Amber Geising and Claire Schaden. 200-yard indiviual medley: Brooke Ford. North is now 5-4 (0-3 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.

GP North Girls Swimming Wins Double Meet

Grosse Pointe North swimmer Olivia Asimakis wins the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.

  The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team took both ends of a  double dual meet against Dearborn and Livonia Franklin Tuesday night. North deafeated Dearborn by a 98-83 score and took Livonia Franklin by a 126-58 margin. Olivia Asimakis was a double winner for North taking both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Emily Griffith was victorious in the 1 meter diving event. Season best performances were recorded in the following events: 50 yard freestyle: Olivia Asimakis, and Claire Schaden, 100 yard freestyle: Olivia Asimakis, Carrie Rakowicz, Ann Marie Nicholson, Karyn Schwartz, Gabrielle Shimko, Susan Hartzell, Sydney Eger,Maria Mermiges, and Caroline Schulte. 200 yard freestyle: Stephanie Shea and Blake Moncur. 100 yard …

Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming Crushes L'Anse Creuse North 120-64

Several North swimmers also mark their season's best times.

The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team scored a 120-64 win over L'Anse Creuse North Thursday night.  Emma Mathews and Olivia Asimakis were double winners for North. Mathews took the 50 and 100-yard freestyle while Asimakis notched wins in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly. Single winners for North were Carrie Rakowicz in the 200-yard freestyle and Katelyn Kohler in the 100-yard breastroke. Season best times were recorded in the following events: 100-yard freestyle: Emma Mathews, Julia Ellis, Allison Fly, Jillian Fenner and Ann Marie Nicholson. 100-yard breastroke: Katelyn Kohler. 100-yard butterfly: Olivia Asimakis. North is now 3-2 (0-2 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.

A competition Thursday against Utica Stevenson gave North their second win of the season thus far.
