Autopsy Today in Grosse Pointe Park Woman's Death

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy today on the Grosse Pointe Park woman found dead inside a home in the 1300 block of Wayburn early Thursday.

A single Grosse Pointe Park police car and a series of television media trucks lining the 1300 block of Wayburn Street were the only signs of the ongoing death investigation of a woman found dead inside a duplex early Thursday.  Sabrina Gianino, who has been identified by several media outlets, lived in Grosse Pointe Park and had worked at Platz Animal Hospital. According to her Facebook page, she had been working there since 2006 as the head receptionist.  Pet owners from the Grosse Pointes have already begun expressing their sorrow about Gianino, commenting on Facebook about her kindness and help at the veterinary office. Grosse Pointe Firefighters Train on Irvine Lane

Public Safety officers from the Grosse Pointes recently participated in a joint firefighter training exercise on Irvine Lane as part of a larger plan to train together and make purchases as one group rather than five.

Public safety officers from the five Grosse Pointes participated in a joint training exercise on Irvine Lane as part of a bigger plan by the Grosse Pointe Public Safety Ad Hoc Committee to streamline firefighting services.  The training was set up in five stations, including: The group training is the result of an agreement approved by the five Grosse Pointe city councils as recommended by the Grosse Pointe Public Safety Ad Hoc Committee. The streamlining efforts outlined in the agrement are:

Pursuit Ends in Crash, Arrest of Man, 18, in Grosse Pointe Park

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested an 18-year-old man May 12 following a pursuit that went into Detroit and ended with a crash into a tree. Officers initially stopped the man for an equipment violation on Mack Avenue shortly after midnight. The 18-year-old stopped the Dodge Durango he was driving briefly but then drove away, according to a report.  A pursuit ensued on several Detroit streets. During the pursuit, the teen struck a curb and flattened both of the front tires on the SUV. He continued driving however, later crashing into a tree.  Neither the 18-year-old man nor were any of his three juvenile passengers injured during the crash, according to a report.  All four were detained, according to Park police, near Mack and Ashland. Ophthalmology Equipment Stolen from Trunk in Grosse Pointe Park

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of ophthalmology equipment from a parked car, according to a report.  The equipment was taken from a car parked in a driveway in the 1400 block of Maryland. It was locked and the equipment was in the trunk.  It was stolen between 8 p.m. May 4 to 9 a.m. May 5 from a 2013 Ford Focus, according to a report.

Burglary, Thefts from Vehicles Under Investigation in Grosse Pointe Park

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the burglary of a vacant home in the 1100 block of Beaconsfield in which a neighbor saw three men running away Saturday. A K9 officer was used to search for the men but they were not found. The three men were reported by the neighbor shortly before 7 p.m. May 5. There is not believed to have been any loss as a result, according to a report.  Series of Thefts from Vehicles  Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles.

Bob Bashara's Exam Postponed until August

The Grosse Pointe Park man already serving a prison sentence will not appear in 36th District Court on charges related to his wife's 2012 strangulation death until late August.

Bob Bashara had been scheduled to have a preliminary exam Tuesday in 36th District Court but the hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 19 after officials reached an agreement, according to Wayne County Prosecutor's spokeswoman Maria Miller. Bashara was arraigned last week on murder and five other charges related to the January 2012 strangulation death of his wife, Jane Bashara. The charges were announced about 15 months after her body was found in the backseat of her SUV in Detroit. New Juice Bar Celebrates Grand Opening in Grosse Pointe Park

A new business, Jungle Juice Bar, featuring fruit and vegetable smoothies, raw juices and more, celebrated its grand-opening Thursday with a vine-cutting with the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce.

Jungle Juice Bar in Grosse Pointe Park was a longtime in the making. Co-owner Regeania Hunter-Coleman essentially turned a hobby/lifestyle of her own into a business, she said.  For years, she has been juicing her own combinations at home. It began years ago when she discovered she had an allergy to an ingredient in vitamins. She still needed the vitamins but was prevented from consuming vitamin pills as a result. Now years later, Hunter-Coleman along with her niece, Syretta Hunter, own Jungle Juice Bar in Grosse Pointe Park. The pair celebrated their grand-opening Thursday with the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce with a vine-cutting. Car Found on Blocks in Grosse Pointe Park

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of two tires and rims from a 2013 Ford Fusion parked behind a business in the 15000 block of Mack Avenue. The car was parked at about 9 a.m. April 26 and when the owner returned about 11:50 a.m., the vehicle was on blocks and two tires were missing, according to a report. Items Stolen from Cars on Balfour Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating two related larcenies in which miscellaneous items were stolen from two cars parked in two driveways in the 1400 block of Balfour April 28. In the first theft, paperwork was taken from a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am between midnight to 1 a.m. In the second case, an iPod Nano, credit cards, a Patagonia handbag, three pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and …

The problem is that another wall will result in finger pointing and wild accusations from the broken side of the street. Excuses for poor behavior seem to pass for newsworthy events in Detroit. Bob Bashara Arraigned on Murder in Wife's Death

Bob Bashara made his first appearance Wednesday afternoon in 36th District Court on charges stemming from his wife's January 2012 strangulation death. He will return to court May 7.

A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Bob Bashara Wednesday in 36th District Court after he was arraigned on six charges related to his wife's strangulation death in January 2012. Bashara is scheduled to return to court May 7 for a preliminary exam.  He is charged with:  If convicted, Bashara faces mandatory life in prison on the first degree murder charge; up to life on each the conspiracy, solicitation and suborning counts; 15 years for witness intimidation; and five years for obstruction of justice. Bashara requested to delay the preliminary exam date so he could have time to hire an attorney. Judge Laura A. Bob Bashara to be Arraigned Wednesday

Bob Bashara will make his first appearance in 36th District Court Wednesday on charges related to his wife's death. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced charges against Bob Bashara earlier this month.

Bob Bashara will be brought back to Detroit this week to make his first appearance in 36th District Court on new charges stemming from the January 2012 strangulation death of his wife, Jane E. Bashara.  Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the new charges April 17 nearly 15 months after Jane Bashara's body was found in the backseat of her SUV in a residential alley in Detroit near 7 Mile and Hoover.  Bob Bashara had denied any involvement in her death, which was ruled a homcide, but he was identified as a "person of interest" early on in the investigation.  Worthy described the investigation as spanning several states, involving multiple computers and thousands of documents in addition to involving nearly 300 witnesses.
