This Week: Grosse Pointes Municipal and Schools Meetings

School Board meets Nov. 19, Woods to hold public hearing on St. John's Helipad, Farms to hold hearing on animal ordinance changes and Shores to hold a variance public hearing.

  Three cities in the Grosse Pointes have regularly scheduled meetings this week with public hearings and the Grosse Public Pointe Schools Board meets.  Below is a brief summary of each of the hearings and links to the meeting agendas. GROSSE POINTE WOODS Grosse Pointe Woods City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 19 for a special land use permit request by St. John's Hospital for a temporary helipad to be located in its North parking lot.  The hearing will be part of the Council's regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. The Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission adopted a resolution recommending approval of the site plan review and the special land use on Oct. 23. GP School Board Implements Budget Strategy

In a measure to prepare for the upcoming 2012/13 budget discussions, the Grosse Pointe Public School Board passed a measure Monday to help gain feedback from unionized employees and administration well in advance of the passage deadline.

In preparation for the Grosse Pointe Public School budget discussions that will begin soon related to the 2012/13 fiscal year, the board passed a resolution introducted by board treasurer Brendan Walsh. The idea behind the resolution is to have the proposed budget and all related information before the board months before the state's budget passage deadline in order to give the board sufficient time to make decisions and strategize on how to make the budget. As outlined in the resolution, members of the various unions representing employees of the district must submit written solutions to Superintendent Tom Harwood by March 30.
