No additional pop bottle bombs were found throughout Friday after the six discovered overnight and early in the morning. Police are continuing to investigate but believe it was the work of teenagers who looked up a recipe online. No injuries were reported
Police in the Grosse Pointes believe the pop bottle bombs discovered overnight Thursday to Friday and early Friday morning were the work of teenagers who looked up recipes online. Police in Grosse Pointe Woods and Shores issued community alerts early Friday warning residents that if they spotted one to stay far away and to call police immediately. Ultimately no injuries were reported but there was risk for injury. The pop bottle bombs were made of two-liter bottles, tin foil, drain cleaner and other common household materials. The combination of chemicals causes extreme pressure eventually leading to the explosion of the bottle. The risk of injury comes through shrapnel when the explosion happens and chemical burns from the drain cleaner. …

Grosse Pointe Shores Department of Public Safety is urging residents to report anything deemed suspicious in the moment rather than waiting, which will be more helpful and have potential to help officers interrupt one of the crimes.
The investigation into a series of burglaries in Grosse Pointe Shores and in Grosse Pointe Woods continues as the list of victims grows. Fingerprint and handprint evidence gathered at the most recently burglarized homes have been sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab. As detectives await the results, which could take a while, they are urging residents in the pair of neighboring cities to be aware of what's happening next door and to report anything suspicious immediately. Detective Lt. Scott Rohr said the key factor in reporting suspicious circumstances is time. Reports made immediately allow officers to potentially interrupt the suspicious activity and determine what exactly is happening, whereas waiting to report something or …

Two men St. Clair Shores police believe are responsible for robbing an 85-year-old woman a parking lot were arrested Monday night after a multi-city pursuit spanning Grosse Pointe Shores to Grosse Pointe Park.
Grosse Pointe Shores, Park, Farms and City police officers assisted Monday night in a pursuit down Lake Shore Road that ended with the arrest of two men believed to be responsible for robbing an 85-year-old woman in the parking lot of a St. Clair Shores Kroger. The pursuit was not particularly fast but rather at a reasonable speed, Shores Det. Sgt. Scott Rohr said. The public safety risk was that the driver of the car repeatedly drove off the roadway onto lawns and sidewalks to avoid being caught by police, he said. It all started shortly before 7 p.m. when St. Clair Shores police issued a radio call to area departments alerting them to a robbery at the Kroger on 9 Mile and Greater Mack Avenue.
