The 26th annual Grosse Pointe Home and Garden Expo opens at 10 a.m. Saturday with more than 70 vendors on hand with the addition of artists and live music by North students.
With the addition of artist vendors and live music performed by Grosse Pointe North High School students, the 26th Annual Grosse Pointe Home and Garden Expo will feature more than 70 vendors. The show opens at 10 a.m. at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial and continues until 4 p.m. Saturday March 16. This is the first year the show will feature artists with product they can sell on site, CEO of the Grosse Pointe Board of Realtors Bobbi Sexton said. The idea was to enhance the show and give the vendors an opportunity to make money on their product, she said. A cast and crew chalked full of Grosse Pointers will open Grosse Pointe Theatre's most recent performance, The Heiress, Sunday March 10 with a matinee show at the War Memorial. The Heiress is the tale of young, introverted woman living in New York City in the 1850s who is being pursued by a man her father believes is only after her inheritance. Her father misses her late mother and isn't particularly loving to her often noting her faults. Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested 3 men Tuesday night outside Pier Park from a stolen semi-truck that side-swiped cars at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.
Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested three men Tuesday night on Lake Shore Road after a short pursuit of a stolen semi-truck driven from the Grosse Pointe War Memorial to in front of Pier Park. Farms police received a 911 call from the Grosse Pointe War Memorial shortly after 7 p.m. about a semi-truck that was driving through the parking lot hitting several cars, Public Safety Director Dan Jensen said. Responding officers attempted to stop the semi-truck, which they discovered had been reported stolen out of Fraser, but the driver continued driving, Jensen said. The truck drove between Grosse Pointe Memorial Church and the Grosse Pointe Club, striking parked cars there as well, Jensen said. Then the semi-truck continued onto Lake Shore Road…

GROSSE POINTE - In 2008, after many years of school, travel and business together, Grosse Pointers Sonny Geha and David Watson wanted to make a difference in their community. Having such diverse backgrounds and interests, they had a difficult time deciding on a cause or an area to focus their resources. Instead of narrowing it down to just one idea, they decided to devote themselves to a few of their favorite local charities and The Helping Hands Society was born.
