Grosse Pointe Woods Police Assure Families of School Security Procedures

Special Response Team made up of the Pointes and Harper Woods police officers are trained in school 'lockdown' procedures.

  Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Office issued a Nixle Alert yesterday in response to the tragic Connecticut school shooting to assure Grosse Pointe Public School students and their families of the security measures that would be taken in the event that a similar situation should happen in Grosse Pointe Woods. "As you know we have a Special Response Team composed of officers from the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods. Annually, each department participates in school lockdown procedure training and training for what is termed as an “active shooter” situation," Public Safety Director Andrew Pazuchowski explained in the Nixle report. You what scares me more? The fact that this acutally makes sense to you and a not insignificant percent of our population. I am sure the crazies and criminals will be lining up to hand over their "automatic" weapons. By the way, no automatic weapons were used in the attack. Take a lap.   more ›
