Grosse Pointe Woods Director of Public Safety announced plans to participate in the annual campaign enforcing the use of seatbelts in moving vehicles. This year the enforcement focus will begin May 20 and end June 2.
Motorists driving in Grosse Pointe Woods should make sure to be buckled up as the Department of Public Safety prepares to begin its annual participation in the Click It or Ticket campaign. The stepped-up enforcement for seatbelt usage will begin May 20 and continue through June 2, according to a press release issued by Director of Public Safety for the Woods, Andrew Pazuchowski. Law enforcement departments from across the country participate in the campaign aimed at educating motorists about the importance of wearing a seatbelt and being properly restrained in a car. Deer have began being spotted in Grosse Pointe Woods and Shores last weekend. They continue being spotted throughout the Pointes, most recently on Lakeland in the City. Upload your photos and say where you spotted them to the photo gallery.
Grosse Pointe residents caught the deer on camera this weekend. At least one was spotted in the backyard of a home on Vernier Road and can be seen jumping a fence.
Several residents of the Grosse Pointes spotted deer in the community over the weekend and in the last few days. Readers Chris Profeta, Matt Frame and Karlyn Jones shared pictures of deer they spotted Sunday and Monday. One shows a deer in the backyard of a home on Vernier Road south of Grosse Pointe North High School. Another shows two deer on Renaud Road between Morningside and Lake Shore.

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted a 63-year-old Warren man May 2 originally stopped for suspected drunken driving after it was discovered he was having diabetic problems. The man was weaving in and out of his lane of traffic in the 500 block of Lake Shore. The officer stopped him and he was confused and disoriented. A portable breath test showed the man did not have alcohol in his system. While talking to the man, it was discovered he had diabetes. The officer called for a paramedic to respond and take the man to the hospital, according to a report. Local business owner Rose Marchese and her husband have taken over a local spa. In addition to making some updates, Marchese is trying to partner with the medical field related to massage therapy for patients and whole body care.
Rose Marchese took over ownership of a spa on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods formerly known as the Edwin Paul Spa in January. Marchese is also the owner of Hannah Bear Boutique and La Jolie Rose. The spa is seperate from Edwin Paul Salon at 20327 Mack Ave., which is owned by Edward Framalino, president Edwin Paul Inc. Services and management at the salon remain the same. The spa is no longer named Edwin Paul Spa due it being trademarked, attorney Lisa Pinkos Howle said. To the 7 GPPSS School Board members: Please vote NO on the recommendation the administration will make tonight to reduce the nine office assistants/clerks in our 9 elementary schools from 1.0 (full time) to 0.5 (part time).
