National Weather Service Warns of Wind Chill
The coldest airmass of the season is moving in to southeastern Michigan early Tuesday, making for dangerous conditions with low temperatures and high winds.
The National Weather Service is warning residents of southeastern Michigan to use caution outside due to extremely cold temperatures and high winds. The combination of single digit temperatures and lower plus 10 to 20 mile per hour winds creates conditions that are 15 to 20 degrees below zero. The frigid weather is expected to continue early Tuesday when the temperature will remain hovering near zero, according to a wind chill advisory in place until Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures reachig 7 to 12 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. Anyone who must go outside is recommended to wear a hat and gloves in addition to other winter gear to avoid frost bite and hypothermia, according to the advisory issued Monday night.
