Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in Grosse Pointe Woods

The Mobil Station at 20700 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, sold the winning ticket in Michigan Lottery’s Classic Lotto 47!

Get your Lotto tickets out and check your numbers, Grosse Pointe residents—you may be a millionaire. The Michigan Lottery announced Thursday that one lottery player purchased the winning ticket for the Classic Lotto 47 at the Mobil gas station at Mack and Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods. The lucky numbers were 05-12-18-30-32-38. If you had the numbers, you are $5.9 million richer.  If you are the lucky winner, let us know at Patch!

The Lottery is just a tax on people who don't understand basic probability and it's the only way the government recoups transfer payments. Every Lotto machine in the state should just accept bridge cards to cut out the middleman. What would you do with $325 million? That’s the question this week as the Powerball jackpot for Saturday has climbed to $325 million—the fourth-highest total in the lottery game’s history. Powerball is played in 42 states, including Michigan, along with Washington, D.C., and the Virgin Islands. Michigan residents have until 10 p.m. Saturday to buy a Powerball ticket from a lottery retailer and enter the drawing, which will take place at 10:59 p.m. Do you plan to buy a Powerball ticket? I cannot fathom what I would do with all of that much money. A few things in mind. Some big checks to the shelters and crisis centers where I've volunteered. To schools where I've worked and attended. Personally, I love it in Costa Rica, I'd find a place for me to live during the cold months and sponsor more than few schools technologically (and in whatever other ways they say they needed things…   more ›
