University Liggett senior Madison Ristovski is named the Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year for Michigan by ESPNHS.
ESPNHS has named University Liggett senior Madison Ristovski the Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year for Michigan, according to the school’s website. Ristovski led University Liggett to the Class C state championship game last year, and she has helped the Knights to a 20-win season this year. She will play college basketball next season at Michigan. ESPNHS is the high school website for ESPN. Ristovski and University Liggett will play Detroit Consortium in the Class C regional semifinal Thursday at 7 p.m. at Auburn Hills Oakland Christian.

University Liggett senior Madison Ristovski is one of five nominees for Miss Basketball, an award given to the top high school girls basketball player in the state by the Detroit Free Press and the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. Ristovski, who will play college basketball at the University of Michigan, led University Liggett to the Class C state finals last year. The Miss Basketball winner will be announced March 12 at a Detroit Free Press news conference. Ristovski University Liggett will open play in the district tournament on Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Harper Woods Heart Academy. The game will be played at Mount Clemens.

Standout girls basketball player signs letter of intent with University of Michigan.
University Liggett girls basketball player Madison Ristovski made her decision to play basketball for the University of Michigan official Thursday morning by signing a national letter of intent. Surrounded by her family, coaches, Liggett administriators, teammates and friends, the senior guard sat at a small table beside University Liggett athletic director Michelle Hicks and put her name on the dotted line, thus beginning her career as a basketball player for the University of Michigan. Before Ristovski dons her Wolverines jersey, however, there is still some work left to do for the Knights.
