Car Found on Blocks in Grosse Pointe Park

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of two tires and rims from a 2013 Ford Fusion parked behind a business in the 15000 block of Mack Avenue. The car was parked at about 9 a.m. April 26 and when the owner returned about 11:50 a.m., the vehicle was on blocks and two tires were missing, according to a report. Items Stolen from Cars on Balfour Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating two related larcenies in which miscellaneous items were stolen from two cars parked in two driveways in the 1400 block of Balfour April 28. $25K in Jewelry Reported Stolen in Grosse Pointe Farms

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Grosse Pointe Farms police are investigating the theft of $25,000 worth of jewelry from a Rose Terrace home in which the homeowner told police she believes a man she hired as a contractor is responsible. The 77-year-old woman reported the theft to police April 27 after the contractor showed back up to her house earlier than scheduled and she confronted him about the missing jewelry. The man left and she called police. The responding officer saw the man leaving but the woman did not report that he was leaving. The woman reported that she hired the man to do some updating projects in her house and he had done painting inside and outside April 25. After he left, she noticed the jewelry was missing. 3 Stolen Cars Recovered, Drunk Driver Arrested

The following information is gathered by the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

City of Grosse Pointe police arrested a woman April 19 at Lake Shore and Kerby roads for drunk driving after she was spotted swerving in and out of her lane of traffic. The woman had slurred speech, could not successfully complete field sobriety tests and refused to take a portable breath test. The woman was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw after officers obtained a search warrant from the judge. The woman was initially charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Possible Hoarding Case Under Investigation

The following information is gathered by the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The Grosse Pointe Woods Building Department will be following up on a home that is potentially a public safety hazard after police responded to a call for help from the resident. An 83-year-old woman called police to her home on Saddle Lane April 15 after she had fallen. She needed help getting up. While officers were in the house, they noticed signs of hoarding including dirty surfaces, magazines, paper, unopened food items and other household items littering walkways and concealing furniture. The woman was helped to her feet and refused medical treatment and transport to the hospital. Series of Bike Thefts, Larcenies Under Investigation

Grosse Pointe Park police are invstigating a series of bike thefts. The following thefts have been reported:  Grosse Pointe Park police are also investigating several other thefts, including: Handgun Stolen  Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of a handgun and several power tools from a home in the 1400 block of Buckingham Road. A surveillance video shows the theft happened at about 1:30 a.m. April 19. The homeowner provided police with a potential suspect, according to a report.  Food Ignites on Stove Grosse Pointe Park firefighters extinguished a stovetop fire April 18 at a home in the 700 block of Harcourt. Crews discovered the homeowner left food cooking on the stove. The fire was put out by an extinguisher, according…

Jacket Stolen in Grosse Pointe Park Burglary

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the burglary of a home in the 1000 block of Maryland in which a jacket was stolen. A side door of the home was pryed open April 10 between 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The jacket wast stolen from the basement of the home and nothing else was reported as missing, according to a report.  Items Stolen from SUV Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of a golf bag, CDs and a backpack from an SUV. The 2012 Jeep Cherokee was parked in the alley of the 15000 block of Jefferson April 9 when the owner returned to find the back window smashed out. The theft happened between 6 to 7 p.m., according to a report.

Domestic Battery Ends in Arrest in Grosse Pointe Farms

Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 47-year-old resident April 11 for domestic battery after officers were called to the house by her husband. The husband told police he arrived home to find that his wife had been drinking. She asked him if he was having an affair, he said he wasn't going to talk to her when she was drunk. She began following him around so  he pulled out his cell phone and began recording her behavior. He told her if she didn't stop he would leave and then she began scratching him while trying to get his cell phone prompting him to call police. Grosse Pointe Farms Police Arrest Drunk Drivers, Investigate Egging

Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 31-year-old Detroit woman for drunk driving April 6. Another motorist called 911 to report the woman as a possible drunk driver. When responding officers found her near Kercheval Avenue at Kerby Road, she was weaving in and out of her lane of traffic and she was driving five miles per hour over the speed limit. When an officer approached, the woman had a hard time finding her paperwork and she smelled of alcohol. She had a 0.16 percent blood alcohol content and failed field sobriety tests, according to a report. Grosse Pointe Park Police Make Several Arrests

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested two teenagers April 3 after witnessing them steal change from a car parked in the 1200 block of Kensington Road. A team of surveillance officers spotted the teens coming into Grosse Pointe Park shortly after 1 a.m. and then saw them go up the driveway of a home on Kensington Road. They were up there with a 1999 Mercury Villager for a few minutes before returning down thte diveway. Officers stopped the teens, who ran but were caught a short distance away. Officers retrieved the $1 in change they had taken from the parked vehicle. The 16-year-old teenager admitted to the theft and admitted to a series of larcenies from cars that happened the week prior. The second teenager, a 14-year-old has charges pending…

U.S. Border Patrol Arrests 2 Men In Grosse Pointe Shores

Grosse Pointe Shores police turned over two Detroit men to U.S. Border Patrol March 30 after stopping them in the 1100 block of Lake Shore Road. The men were looking for a house in the 700 block of Lake Shore to do some painting work and provided the officer with international identification. The men admitted they did not have citizenship, which is when Border Patrol was contacted, according to a report. Drunk Drivers Arrested Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 43-year-old Kettering, Ohio, woman and a 71-year-old Highland Park man April 3 near Lake Shore Road and Woodland Shores Drive for alcohol offenses. I wish they would just let our local cops patrol for everything and stop the wasted money on green and white cars that drive in circles.
