A Grosse Pointe Woods neighborhood plagued by power outages will receive fuse upgrades to limit the span of outages. DTE says the work was to have been completed 4 years ago.
DTE officials promised work would be complete by Nov. 30 on the power grid serving a neighborhood plagued by outages, saying the work should have been done four years ago. DTE engineer Ron Gerken plans to return to City Council Dec. 12 to confirm the completion of the work, he said at a brief meeting Monday with Grosse Pointe Woods City Council. One of the 1,198 residents in that neighborhood, Tom DeBoever of Aline Drive, complained to DTE after he was out of power for 20-plus hours June 9. DeBoever's complaint prompted Gerken to recheck work at the power grid site, Gerken said Monday. He said that was when he discovered that work that should have been completed four years ago hadn't been. Fuses will be added to each section of the power …

Most of the outages in the City and Farms have been restored, meanwhile the section of Grosse Pointe Park and a small area of Detroit remain without power.
About 4,000 customers throughout the metro Detroit are still awaiting restoration following Saturday's storms, including 1,404 in Grosse Pointe Park and a few blocks into Detroit. Currently, there is not an estimation about when the power will be restored but DTE crews were spotted in and around the Park and neighboring Detroit throughout Tuesday. The area that remains without power has been given different restoration estimates, including the most recent stating at the latest it would be restored by 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The outage map late Tuesday however, no longer includes that estimation. Spotty portions of Grosse Pointe Park, and even one small area in Grosse Pointe Farms, are without power today. The 73-year-old man is frustrated with the lack of stability with power to his home. He lives within the neighborhood near Mack and Vernier plagued by power outages.
Tom DeBoever and his wife moved to Grosse Pointe Woods for a better life. The retired couple lives on Aline Drive. DeBoever is overall very satisfied with their decision to move in 2004 but after the most recent power outage, he's frustrated. DeBoever lives in the neighborhood in Grosse Pointe Woods that is plagued by power outages—a problem city officials are well aware of and for which they are trying to set up a meeting with DTE. DeBoever expressed his frustrations about the lack of stable power to his home to Woods council members Monday during their Committee of the Whole meeting. He said he understands work was done a few years ago for improvements, but questions whether it really changed. At 73, DeBoever has no desire to move, he…

More than 1,000 residents in Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Farms have been without power since about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, and DTE does not have an estimate about when it'll be restored.
