An unknown man is suspected of stealing a gym employee's wallet from her purse during business hours.

Grosse Pointe Farms Police are looking for a man who is suspected of stealing a woman's wallet from her purse in her office in the Just Breathe gym on Kercheval. On Dec. 22, between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., an unknown male suspect casually entered the office at 130 Kercheval from the Kercheval alley breezeway, walked into the woman's office and took her wallet from her purse.  He walked away from the gym northbound on Muir, Detective Bryan Ford said. The wallet was later located in some bushes at Ridge and Muir the next day, missing $40 in cash, police said. Police say robbers tried to take ATM by crashing van into CVS store near Grosse Pointe Farms on Friday morning.

Story Updated on Dec. 28 at 1:36 p.m. According to a report by WXYZ.com, the CVS drug store on the border of Grosse Pointe Farms at Warren and Mack Avenue was robbed by masked and armed robbers Friday morning around 7 a.m. The store is located in Detroit on the 18000 block of E. Warren. Police say the robbers, dressed in all black, crashed a white van into the front of the CVS store and attempted to steal the ATM, according to a report by the Detroit Free Press. “It appears they tried to take the ATM machine but were unsuccessful,” Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski told the Free Press. “They did flee with an undisclosed amount of cash, but it is uncertain at this time if the cash came from the ATM or the store.” WXYZ reports that …

Home Invasion Suspect Arraigned in Grosse Pointe City Case

A Detroit man has been arraigned on charges related to a home invasion in the City of Grosse Pointe on Dec. 4

A Detroit man was arraigned on Dec. 13 on charges stemming from a home invasion in the City of Grosse Pointe on Dec. 4. Henry James Crook, 22, is charged with robbery without the use of a weapon and breaking and entering, according to City of Grosse Pointe municipal court staff. Crook may also be facing additional charges after his preliminary exam on Dec. 20, court staff said. Bond was set at $50,000 with a 10 percent guarantee.  Crook is still currently being held in Wayne County jail. Grosse Pointe City police issued a Nixle Alert on Dec. 4 at 12:44 p.m. alerting residents that a home invasion on University had occurred and that a suspect sighting had police combing the streets in pursuit.  Police advised residents to stay inside their …

Grosse Pointe Park Resident Bob Bashara Sentenced for Hiring Hitman

Bob Bashara will serve 80 - 240 months for solicitation of murder of Joe Gentz, the handyman charged with Jane Bashara's murder.

Grosse Pointe Park resident Bob Bashara was sentenced this morning on a charge that he hired a hitman to kill Joe Gentz, the handyman charged with killing Bashara's wife last January.   Today, Bashara was sentenced to serve 80 to 240 months in prison for the crime. The Detroit Free Press reported that Bashara said in court, "I am truly and humbly sorry for my actions. I apologize to this court. I apologize to Mr. Gentz. I apologize to my family and friends." According to the Detroit News, Bashara told Wayne County Circuit Judge Bruce U. Morrow, "I understand I must pay for what I have done. Three Enter Guilty Pleas in Grosse Pointe Jewelry Heist

Two brothers and a girlfriend plead guilty to stealing more than $1 million dollars of jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City home.

The three people charged with stealing more than $1 million dollars worth of jewelry from a Grosse Pointe City home in September have pleaded guilty as charged in Wayne County Third Circuit Court. Matthew Sedgeman, 19, was charged with second-degree home invasion and larceny of over $20,000. Judge Wade McCree sentenced Sedgman to 36 months to 15 years in prison and over $1 million dollars in restitution. Sedgeman's brother, Joshua Sedgeman, 20, was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000 and was sentenced to one to ten years in prison with restitution. Joshua Sedgeman's girlfriend, Alaina Robinson, who is also charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000, will be sentenced on  December 13. …
