Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Office say a man suspected of snatching a woman's purse is in custody.
Grosse Pointe Farms police say a man matching the description of someone who pushed a woman near the corner of Webster and Calvin and stole her purse is now in police custody. The man was crossing Mack near LaFontaine headed for Detroit when he was picked up, according to police. The Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Office issued a Nixle report at 8:16 a.m. this morning about the purse snatching incident and also that the suspect had been located. No other details have been released yet, but Patch will update this story when more information is available.

A man who approached a 21-year-old woman near Maryland and Goethe streets in Grosse Pointe Park June 18 ran after the woman refused to give up her purse, according to police. The man tried to take the purse from her shoulder but the woman held on to it and he ran away. The man is described as about 5-foot-11, 18 years old, black with a medium build and short wavy hair. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with gold buttons and dark jeans. After the would-be robber ran from the woman, she called police. The woman was not injured and the man did not get anything from her, according to a report.
