The second Grosse Pointe Restaurant Week starts today and features 16 local eateries. Each restaurant is offering a unique deal to restaurant week diners.
Grosse Pointe's second restaurant week begins today, April 26, 2103, and continues through May 5. The event is organized by the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce and features 16 local restaurants, each offering a unique dining deal with respect to the week. This year the event was moved from the summer to to the spring, Chamber Director of Administration MaryJo Harris. Last year the event was held in conjunction with the unveiling of the Grosse Pointe Fish that dotted the streets of the Pointes. In its second year, the event is intended to highlight local restaurants and give everyone an opportunity to try something new, Harris said. The new Red Crown restaurant in Grosse Pointe Park has been featured in the Detroit Free Press, where the owner reported her first week as being highly successful with a line of people waiting to get in the first night.
Red Crown restaurant served 400 meals its first Friday. There were also 25 people lined up outside on opening night March 6, according to information the owner, Mindy Lopus, reported to the Free Press. Red Crown restaurant opened Wednesday for dinner in Grosse Pointe Park's business district along Kercheval Avenue.
The much-awaited Red Crown opened Wednesday in Grosse Pointe Park, offering diners the opportunity to have dinner inside the remodeled Standard Oil building that stood vacant for years. Eventually the restaurant will be open for lunch as well but for now it will be open for dinnertime only. The hours this week are 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. Employees made a dinner menu available via its Facebook page early Wednesday. A new restaurant in Grosse Pointe Park featuring American comfort foods is slated to open March 6 for dinner.
The much-anticipated Red Crown restaurant in Grosse Pointe Park will open for dinner March 6, according to an update on the company's Facebook page Tuesday. Red Crown will feature American comfort foods. It is located in the old Standard Oil building on Kercheval Avenue at Beaconsfield. The new restaurant taking over the former Standard Oil building in Grosse Pointe Park is waiting for final inspections.
Grosse Pointe Park's much anticipated new restaurant, Red Crown, is waiting for final inspections, according to a post on Facebook this week. Once the restaurant receives its final approval, employees will need about five days to prepare for the grand opening, according to the post. The restaurant was originally slated to open in late January. A call by Patch to the owner, Mindy Lopus, was not returned but residents in the Grosse Pointes have been anxiously awaiting the opening and asking about when it will open on Facebook and Patch.
