With a new outdoor facade, the Mack Avenue location of Sherwin Williams re-opens following nearly three months of being closed due to falling brick.
Repairs to the Mack Avenue building housing Sherwin Williams and Mack Avenue Grille have been completed. The building, which lost its bricks early one morning in early June, is now re-bricked in a much darker color. An employee from Sherwin Williams confirmed Saturday that the store has re-opened with normal business hours this week. Both businesses were closed following the brick tumble due to safety concerns about the condition of the front of the building. Ultimately, the remaining brick that did not fall was removed and the the building was re-bricked during the last two and a half months. Moross Road at Mack Avenue has been blocked by Grosse Pointe Farms officials working to repair a water main that broke late Thursday. The repairs are expected to be complete by the close of business Friday barring any unforeseen complications employees encounter, Assistant City Manager Matt Tepper said Friday afternoon. The break likely caused water to have a brown tint to it for many residents in the area but as long as the faucet is turned on with running water until the water runs clear, cold water is safe for drinking, according to the alert sent out by officials late Thursday.
