Renderings by a local property designer show what the future businesses will look like along Grosse Pointe Park's Kercheval Avenue business district.
As construction is about to begin for one future Grosse Pointe Park business and it's nearing completion for another, the property designs offer a sneak peek into the final look of Tallulah's and BonaFide Bakery. Tallulah's and BonaFide Bakery will add to the landscape of the Kercheval Avenue business district in Grosse Pointe Park, similar to that of Red Crown, which has been open for a few weeks and is reportedly doing well. Property manager and general contractor Robert Ermanni, on behalf of the Cotton Family, shared the property renderings for both new businesses slated to open this year. Both show outdoor seating. Tallulah's has considerably more while BonaFide shows a smaller area, likely due to the nature of the businesses. Tallulah…

The development project by the Cotton family to turn the Grosse Pointe Park's business district into a thriving attraction for potential new residents is well underway with renovations and remodeling planned for several properties.
Construction on the future home of Tallulah's --one of three eateries by Silver Pig Restuarnt Group slated for Grosse Pointe Park's business district-- will break ground in a few weeks. It is one of several projects that will be underway this spring related to the development of Grosse Pointe Park's business district along Kercheval Avenue planned by the Cotton family. The family's general contractors and property managers Robert Ermanni and Dave Quint took Patch on a tour of the Park properties this week reviewing the plans and timeline. First up, construction for Tallulah's is only a few weeks away. Additionally, the future home of BonaFide Bakery is nearing completion. While the progress is not visible to passersby because of the …

Red Crown restaurant opened Wednesday for dinner in Grosse Pointe Park's business district along Kercheval Avenue.
The much-awaited Red Crown opened Wednesday in Grosse Pointe Park, offering diners the opportunity to have dinner inside the remodeled Standard Oil building that stood vacant for years. Eventually the restaurant will be open for lunch as well but for now it will be open for dinnertime only. The hours this week are 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. Employees made a dinner menu available via its Facebook page early Wednesday. Red Crown, the first of three restaurants by Mindy Lopus' Silver Pig Restaurant Group, is slated to open this month, with the other eateries to follow soon.
The sign in front of Red Crown restaurant's new digs in the old Standard Oil Station in Grosse Pointe Park announces that they are hiring in preparation for their opening on Jan. 22. "Yes, we're hiring," Mindy Lopus said with smile. In fact, Lopus said that her Silver Pig restaurants will hire nearly 130 people between her three restaurants: Red Crown, Bona Fide Bakery and Tallulah's in the coming months. For now, Lopus is concentrating on staffing Red Crown with the 68 employees that will include waitstaff, kitchen and bar employees. Remodeling of the spaces for Red Crown and Bona Fide Bakery, located in the former Mulier’s Market, has progressed at a breakneck pace since Lopus announced her restaurants were coming to Grosse Pointe Park…

Grosse Pointe Park neighbors hope new eateries will attract more foot traffic to business district.
David Murie remembers when Grosse Pointe Park was bustling with foot traffic to his antique store and seven others in the city. Today, his is the only remaining antique store in the Park. Murie hopes that the addition of the Silver Pig Restaurant Group's three new restaurants in the heart of the Park's business district will bring people back to eat—and shop. "We've been here 23 years and we need this change. It's about time," Murie said. Murie's store, Lloyd David Antiques, is directly across Kercheval from the former Standard Oil service station, which is being renovated to host Red Crown, the first of Mindy Lopus' Silver Pig Restaurant Group's projects to begin construction. Like many park residents, Murie said he's known that a …
