Goldfish Swim School Considers Location in Grosse Pointe, St. Clair Shores

A franchise specializing in year-round swim lessons for children is asking for input from families in the Grosse Pointes and St. Clair Shores to determine whether such a business in the area would be beneficial.

A year-round swim school located in five other Michigan cities is asking for input from parents in the Grosse Pointes and St. Clair Shores about whether having a franchise in the area would be beneficial. Goldfish Swim School is trying to gain as much feedback as possible while researching whether to open a location in the Grosse Pointe-St. Clair Shores area, according to a letter recently given to parents at Assumption Nursery School. Parents are asked in the letter to complete a short survey online, which is estimated to take about two minutes. Along with the survey, parents are asked to express how they would feel about having a Goldfish location in the area. Opening a location nearby would be an estimated investment of about $1 million…

Neighborhood Club also has a curriculum and it is year round and has warm water and makes swimming fun. Sounds a little familiar. The Neighborhood Club just opened in the Village of Grosse Pointe and they offer the same exact services, but for a better price and have the same certifications as Goldfish. Seems like it may be a waste of a million dollars to provide the same exact service.   more ›

Grosse Pointe Farms Resident Shares Door-to-Door Flood Survey

Unsatisfied with the answers the engineering firm provided following the May floods, a Fisher Road resident performed his own door-to-door survey regarding the September floods.

On the same night Grosse Pointe Farms City Manager Shane Reeside told council a report from the engineering firm regarding the study of the Kerby Road Pump Station would not be ready until next month, a Fisher Road resident shared the results of his door-to-door survey of the inland district.  Andrew Dervan is hopeful his survey might help officials put together a better picture of the problem with the city's sewer system. A retired chemist who often did work for GM, Dervan lives on Fisher Road. He told the Grosse Pointe Farms council Monday that if as a chemist he had a large scale problem that caused the level of disruption and damage similar to what the sewer backup floods have caused, he would have been required to provide a detailed …

If you have a chance the Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick preliminary report reads much different than the HRC report. According to the Eng. the WWTP standards and recommendation indicate that two power lines from the same substation do not constitute a backup redundant system.
