Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce Named Official Host of the 2013 Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade

Hosting the popular community event transferring from the Grosse Pointe Village Association

  GROSSE POINTE FARMS – The Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) announced that responsibility for hosting the annual Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade is transferring from the Grosse Pointe Village Association to the Chamber of Commerce, starting with the 2013 Parade. The Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade is one of the community’s most popular events, taking place the day after Thanksgiving and running from the Grosse Pointe’s "Hill" business district through the Village of Grosse Pointe. Thousands of residents and non-residents attend the annual event. The Chamber will be responsible for planning, promoting and raising funds for the Parade. Village Association Expands Marketing Efforts

The Village Association of Grosse Pointe has Facebook and Twitter to its marketing efforts with hopes of using social media to draw more people to the area.

The Village Association of Grosse Pointe is adding social media to its toolbox in hopes of using it to draw more people to the three block business-shopping-dining district. Lifelong Grosse Pointer Jennifer Teets grew up going to the Village and still frequents the businesses there today. She's seen it in it evolve and is excited to work with the business owners to expand their marketing efforts. The association hired Teets as its social media coordinator for the Village. She began during the holidays, highlighting some of the deals retailers were offering on a particular day.  More recently, Teets has used the social media to highlight the particular offerings of a store in addition to highlighting daily deals. Ribbon Cutting: Green Zone Celebrates Official Grand Opening

The new pizzeria featuring organic and gluten free options is celebrating its official grand opening today with a ribbon cutting ceremony and 25 percent off all day.

Green Zone Pizza in the Village celebrated its official grand opening early Friday kicking off the day with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The owner is also offering a 25 percent discount all day and live acoustic music from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.  Owner Markus Wiederkehr along with his wife Natalie and daughters Rachel, 12, and Jennifer, 3, gathered in front of this restaurant on Notre Dame Street along with city officials, council, his builder, a wine supplier, the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce and the Grosse Pointe Village Association Friday. Wiederkehr had a soft opening in early December with the goal of working out any glitches or unexpected issues before announcing the grand opening. Business, he said, has been good.
