City of Grosse Pointe public safety detectives continue to investigate the nature of the fire and now the third break-in at the collectibles store on Mack Avenue.
City of Grosse Pointe detectives have yet another crime involving Coins and Stamps to investigate after the burned out store was broken into about a week after a fire gutted it. According to a police report recently released, a man hired to clean out the store following the fire discovered it had been burglarized after noticing daylight was shining through from the ceiling early March 13. He had been working at the store the night before until about 6 p.m. and when he returned in the morning, he noticed there were some items in disarray on the floor and two glass cabinets were cracked. He alerted co-owner Michael Wrobleski, who called police. Detective Christopher J. Lee said investigators suspect it is the same people who broke in to the…

Anyone who thinks they may know who these men are in the sketch artist renderings is asked to call police at 313-343-2400. Anonymous tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-2587.
The elderly couple tricked into allowing men into their Elford Court home earlier this month were able to provide enough detail about the robbers for a Michigan State Police sketch artist to complete composite drawings. Grosse Pointe Woods police released the drawings Tuesday of two of the three men who tricked and distracted the couple Nov. 18 and stole about $15,000 worth of jewelry. Detective Anthony Chalut said leads are being investigated and he is hopeful the sketches will help identify the men. The case, at this point, seems to be isolated as no similar crimes have been reported in the Woods or any neighboring or nearby communities, he said. The couple, in their 80s, were able to describe in detail two of the three men to Michigan …
