Farms Approves $4.5 Million Bond Resolution

The bonds, if they are not opposed by Grosse Pointe Farms residents during a 45-day advertising period, will pay for $4.5 million worth of upgrades to the Kerby Road Pump Station.

The Grosse Pointe Farms council voted unanimously Monday to approve a bond resolution for $4.5 million worth of upgrades to the Kerby Road Pump Station. The upgrades are the first phase of recommendations by engineers from their study following the widespread basement flooding inland district residents experienced twice in 2011. The flooding resulted in two class action lawsuits by residents against the city seeking damages. The lawsuits are still pending in court. The resolution allows Farms City Manager Shane Reeside to advertise the bonds to get the process started. It seems as if there is many opposed and much to say. How come there weren't any of you at the recent meeting ? In my opinion those that can prove they had damage equalling the amount of taxable increase from the bond over the next twenty years should not be required to pay a dime.   more ›

VIDEO: Residents Continue to Express Frustrations with Basement Flooding

Grosse Pointe Farms officials update residents about recent flooding with a special informational follow-up meeting, but many people remain upset.

Grosse Pointe Farms residents continued to express their frustrations in the wake of recent basement flooding during a special informational meeting on Monday at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Some residents asked for more concrete answers and options, some expressed dissatisfaction with DTE, and some said they wanted financial reimbursement from the city. Farms City Manager Shane L. Reeside said that the investigation into the cause of the flooding continues. Reeside also said the following steps had been taken: “We want it resolved it,” Reeside said. “We really do.”

Don't disagree on the council, think it's the attorneys muzzling, but maybe that's just their convenient excuse....geez, step up & say something. As far as Mr. Reeside, time will tell. Hope you'll be at the Monday city council mtg.   more ›
