Bob Bashara's Former Attorney David Griem Sentenced for Civil Contempt

Griem must pay $8,000 in fines in 90 days to opposing attorneys and the court.

  Bob Bashara's former attorney, David Griem, was sentenced on civil contempt charges on Monday, Nov. 26 before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. The charges stemmed from accusations that Griem had shared privileged information with Bashara's family and had issued unauthorized subpoenas regarding Joe Gentz. Griem must pay the prosecution $2,000 as well as Susan Reed, the defense attorney for Joseph Gentz, $2,000 and the court $4,000 in fines by  February 26, 2013, according to a release by the Wayne County Prosecutor's office.      During an Oct. 12 hearing, Griem pleaded responsibility for issuing a subpoena on a non-existent case to obtain records for Joseph Gentz and for giving discovery materials in Bob Bashara's case to a …

Bob Bashara's Former Attorney David Griem Admits to Improperly Sharing Evidence

Accused of sharing evidence with Bashara's family and for issuing unauthorized subpoenas, attorney David Griem will be sentenced for civil contempt on Nov. 26.

Bob Bashara's former attorney, David Griem, was in court Friday on charges of criminal contempt of court that stemmed from accusations that Griem had shared privileged information with Bashara's family and had issued unauthorized subpoenas regarding Joe Gentz. During the hearing before 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King, Griem admitted responsibility for both petitions for contempt and apologized, reported Maria Miller, Wayne County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson. In an article by the Detroit Free Press, Griem was reported to have said, "Your honor, as someone who has been an attorney for over 35 years and takes his obligations as an attorney serious, I'm particularly embarrassed to be in this situation..."  Judge King accepted the …
