My name is Scott Decker. I am 25 years old. I live in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. I am a graduate of Oakland University and recently received my Bachelor's Degree in Communication. During the Fall 2010 semester I co-hosted the morning sports talk radio show on 88.3 WXOU-“The Grizz” known as “Sport-This”, and during the Winter 2010 semester, I served as the public address announcer for the OU Division III men's ice-hockey team.
I received my Associate's degree from Macomb Community College and was associated with the baseball team as their home game statistician during my last year there in 2008. I have lived in Grosse Pointe my entire life. I am an alumnus of Grosse Pointe South High School, Class of 2004 where I was the assistant manager/video tech for the varsity football team for my last two years. I also worked at the Central Library in Grosse Pointe for six years and held several summer volunteer work positions in the Grosse Pointe area over the years.
I am a huge sports fan and extremely knowledgeable of sports facts/data/history. I enjoy watching Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, and Football. My favorite sports teams are the Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and the Central Michigan Chippewa. In December of this year I will have the opportunity to visit the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL and be able to spend some time with the team’s broadcast and video staff.
I started blogging at slapshotsportswithscott.blogger.com but I heard about this site and thought I’d get more exposure to the community by blogging here. My ultimate goal is to secure a full time position supporting the Sports Broadcasting/Announcing industry.
